The moment I looked at the first panel of ‘Exile on the Planet of the Apes, I was instantly transported back to Bechko and Hardman’s take on the famous ape world. Laming’s art, coupled with Bellaire’s coloring, captures the look and feel of the original Planet of the Apes movies.
‘Exile’ picks up nicely where ‘Betrayal’ left off (although, reading ‘Betrayal’ is not necessary to enjoy this series, I highly recommend it!).
Bechko & Hardman’s build up to the final page reveal is well-paced and has me excited to see where this series is going.
This issue is a fine example of a well-crafted comic with value.
In the age of decompressed story-telling in comics, its rare to come away feeling that you got your money’s worth. In the case of ‘Exile’, you get quality and quantity. Indeed, it’s money well spent.
