How come I could just jump right into Detective #s 854 and 855 with no problem but once I start reading this issue, I feel like I missed something.  All these references to these True Believers.  All this crime bible stuff.  All this about Batwoman being stabbed in the heart.  What stories are they referring too?  Final Crisis Revelations?  52?  Something else?  I’m lost here.

The dance between Kate and the captain of Gotham Major Crimes Division was risky, especially for DC.  I never thought they would be so blatant about all this lesbian stuff.  I thought they would just mutter something about it here and there.  I’m surprised and I find that daring.

Although the artwork and layouts have been consistently beautiful and thought provoking, I’m finding the story to be a little confusing with all the references to past arcs I don’t believe I’ve read.  This is my first Batwoman experience so I’m hoping the origin arc that’s up next shines some light on a few things I’m not so clear about in this first story.

The Question co-feature was all filler but I guess that is bound to happen often with the sheer size of it.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
