You know with the amount of fucking Batman does in the DCnU it’s a wonder there’s not like 13 Robin’s swinging from the rooftops.

Yep, that’s right, Bruce gets his freak on yet again. I guess Tony Daniel figured “if you can’t beat them, join them”. I will say that the sex scene Daniel has written and drawn plays out much better then the one Winwick wrote over in Catwoman. In fact, the sex here in DET #2 actually feels like it belongs in the comic and serves the story and the characterization of Bruce Wayne as a playboy bachelor – and not some sex starved hero that can’t control himself. Nice work there Tony (Judd, you taking notes?)

There are still some issues with the dialog and cheesiness of some lines delivered by Batman, and the art can sometimes be clunky, but overall things are feeling solidified and a real feeling of “dread” is surrounding the story here. It was a smart move to have that shocking last page in issue 1, because now we are not sure what to expect next. There is an uneasiness to reading Detective Comics.

Get your grim and gritty here folks!
