Chaykin is in stellar form as far as the art is concerned but that’s not the case with the story unless you’re good at filling in the humongous plot holes he’s left all over issue 5. This issue certainly isn’t the dirtiest of the 5 so far but it’s still very risqué (here is how I found it on the shelf at my LCS): https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=8e74526663281f5c&id=8E74526663281F5C!1927&sff=1 Black Kiss 2 #5 starts out with a series of one page stories that quickly introduce characters having affairs with a chain of them leading back to a Loretta Fabrikant. It’s pretty clear that the same theme from previous issues is going to make itself present here: the succubus is going to replace its minion with a new transvestite. Fabrikant is the key to a new Dagmar. The chain of affairs ends with the current Dagmar passing on the Aids virus. The assumption is that everyone down the chain is now infected. It’s at this point that the old Dagmar is killed and replaced by a new one and we move onto the second chapter of book 5. Fortunately Dagmar being replaced isn’t the only bit of story but it’s the one that is the easiest to piece together. The second half is set in Vegas at which appears to be a porn convention. We find out that the Succubus, Beverley Grove, is dead and her ashes are in an urn. A man, for whom we are given zero context to his place in the story, runs away from a newly reborn succubus as the current Dagmar eats her ashes and explodes. I’m sticking it out in passive horror like a spectator at a train wreck. One more issue to go.
