So, this issue wasn’t quite as good as the first one. But hey, what is really? It was a high bar. It’s ok to come up a few inches short. “Not as good as the first issue” for this book still equates to “better than most other books on the shelves”. I’m really on a “fun comics” kick at the moment, and between this, OMAC, and Wolverine and the X-Men, that need is pretty well covered.

Where have I been all Red Hulks life? I initially dismissed the idea, but I wish I hadn’t now. I think he’s great. He’s a hoot in this, and a great foil to Spider-Man. Wells gives both characters a great voice, and hey, J. Jonah Jameson as well. If you’ve never seen the 60’s Spider-Man…um…”cartoon”, give it a look. It’s on Netflix. I cannot read any J. Jonah Jameson without hearing his voice from that show. It works so well in this book. The creative team has a great appreciation for these characters, and it shows. If you’ve been on the fence about this book, and want a more lighthearted romp, I say pull the trigger and give it a go. It’s really, really a great book.

For now. Greg Land comes on after this arc. I’ll pass, thanks. Get in while the gettings good.
