I was really looking forward to jump into this years big Marvel event and after reading issue #0 I can happily say that my expectations have been met. Not to say that AvX#0 has its issues that hold it back from being better but it does serve as a worthy introduction to set up the plot in the coming months.
The Issue is divided into two parts; one story about the Scarlet Witch and Hope Summers. The return of Wanda is probably the better story out of the two because it offers a more interesting, emotional story compared to the plot and dialog driven Hope story. It’s not to say that Hopes story was boring but it was rather forgettable compared to Wanda’s.
The art by Frank Cho wasn’t exactly up to par to what I would have expected especially given that this has been an event that has received a certain amount of hype. A few of the actions sequences are fairly well done that make the action pop out of the page but the the art as a whole could be improved.
Hopefully next month with the release of #1 we receive a good kick start into 2012’s big event because I’m really looking forward to this one.
