I don’t think this comic is going to work for me.  While the interior art isn’t as  poorly proportioned or as bad fashion raggy as the cover, it does have its faults.  And, no, I don’t mean the “junk in the trunk” Emma Frost, the “legs so small they’d break in half” Armor, the “hourglass with such a narrow middle that not a single grain of sand could slip from my gigantic rack through my anorexic torso to my gigantic ass” Storm, the oddly canine Beast, the “my arms are three times as thick as my head” Cyclops or the “my elbows are bigger than the moon” Wolverine.  What I mean is, the facial expressions are completely out of touch with anything I know about any of these characters.  Emma, in particular looks like Jim Carrey in places (granted with a much bigger rack and ass).  What makes Emma cool, and not a clown is that she says these horrible things with a completely straight face.  Here, she makes rather horrid faces.  And Beast goes from looking like a dog to a gorilla in the space of panels.

It’s not that I think Kaare Andrews’s art is bad, it’s that, much like Ellis’s earlier creative partner, Bianchi, I think the art is good, but it doesn’t really jibe with the story.  And the story might prove interesting, but I’m leary of Ellis’s X-writing, as I haven’t loved anything he’s done with mutants since his Excalibur days.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 3 - Good
