If you can get over Bachalo’s artwork (I love it, but many do not), this is a fantastic Spider-Man story.  In a comment, somwhere on iFanboy, someone questioned why The Gauntlet banner was removed from this title.  The answer is simple: while this story does focus on SPiderman battling one of his old enemies, it doesn’t appear to fit in at all with the Kraven The Hunter over-arc that The Gauntlet had.  This is a very different beast.  The writing, and Bachalo’s art are very visceral in this storyline, and with a very specific reason that they hinted at in the last issue.  Everything in this is…I was going to say primal, but that would be incorrect.  Reptilian.  I can’t wait to see where they take this story next.

Story: 5 - Excellent

I skipped the Juggernaut arc but I’m back on for this.  Glad it’s good, but if Spidey jumps up to $4 a week like I hear it’s gonna do soon, I’ll be waiting for softcovers.

… This is no less Kravinov-centric than other Gauntlet arcs. Three-issues of Mysterio comes to mind as a particularly easy comparison. Sandman, too. Most of them, to be honest.

  3. the emma rios art it too drastic of a change halfway through the book it threw me off

This arc has been the most Kraven interfering we have seen since the Gauntlet began. She literally changed the future to ensure that Billy got eaten. I think the Lizard is the last component of our new Sinister Six.
