Perhaps not the best book in the Age of Sentry series, but still quite clever. This issue was a riff on the metaphysics of the Sentry – if the Sentry really exists, what is the nature of his existence? What is his relationship with The Void? How does the Sentry’s reinvented past fit in with the “truth” of the Marvel U?

The clever device used in this series is that the stories we are reading are told by Reed Richards to his son Franklin as bedtime stories. Here Reed admits that the stories are musings – hypotheses fleshed out as Silver Age-style stories. This is entertaining, but it is also quite frustrating. Will we ever learn what The Sentry is? Will this character remain part of the Marvel Universe, or will he be a historical footnote?

Despite the frustration, there is no question that these stories were written with humor in mind. Without question, they are both clever and funny. And quite easy to recommend.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

Nice review, this was the first issue I didn’t enjoy – it undid all the fun of the previous five issues.
