Skip the main story go to the back up.

Seriously the art in this main story hurt to look at, hurt the story telling, and took me straight out of the story on the red eye. This is Action Comics for DC comics?

A couple pages in to the comic and suddenly no one’s face looks the same panel to panel, instead of eyes everyone’s in shadows or they have their eyes closed, and it’s not like the artist cannot draw!!! In one panel someone in the foreground is drawn in good detail, good uses of shadow and etc… Everyone else? like black blobs for eyes and little quadrilaterals for mouths. What kind of time did they have for this guy(s) to do this? it feels like the deadline came fast and without notice for this.

The back up is much better in every way, and i don’t think DC comics has ever shown how these two Famous characters met before. (i could be wrong) It’s Not Great but at least good. Wish it was the lead.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 1 - Poor

  1. I passed on this because the artwork looked pretty bad, like you say, and I had not read Parts 1 and 2 of the back-up, so I wasn’t interested. I do like Lobdell’s work on Superman, I guess I will just stick with that book.

  2. Superman Unchained seems to be the only way you can get a good Superman story until Greg Pak starts his run on Action.

  3. In the old days, editors would have one or two filler issues at-hand ready for the presses when talent changed suggestively, or couldn’t make a deadline. (more DC than Marvel)

At the very least, they’d reprint a classic story as a fill-in until they could get back on-track. (more Marvel than DC)

Guess they don’t/can’t do that any more and they have to rush whatever they can get to the presses on-time.

    $ad…

  4. dont be so harsh, the artwork is a little different but i wouldnt give it a 1, and idk why everyone is hating the story. The writer is trying something new
