Talksplode #67 – Tom King and Mitch Gerads

Show Notes

It’s time for a good old fashioned comic book creator talk! Josh Flanagan talks to comic creators and collaborators Tom King, and Mitch Gerads, about their work on Vertigo’s The Sheriff of Babylon, as well as Tom’s work on The Vision, The Omega Men, and Batman. Plus Mitch spent a while on The Punisher and The Activity. We talk about their working together, Mitch’s stylistic past, Tom’s past with the CIA, as well as iFanboy’s secret part in the forming of this relationship. There’s a bit of talk about the industry, and a lot about the craft of comic book making. Plus we have a good time, and try to get to the bottom of how to pronounce “Gerads”.

  1. This was excellent. Thank you for recording this. I would enjoy more of these. That is all.

  2. Great interview as always. You don’t do interviews as often these days (for obvious reasons) but I still really look forward to them as much as ever.

  3. Amazing Interview. I learned so much about the industry. I’ve always wanted to write comics but hearing TOm’s story made me think maybe one day it could be a reality. Super inspiring to hear from really one of the top writers in the game today. Thank you so much Josh.

  4. Thanks for doing this! As always, great insights into craft, process, and creator personalities.

  5. Excellent podcast as always Josh. Request time, Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber.
