  1. Happy Festivus, iFanboy!

  2. Thanks for a great year,guys!

  3. Ok. I’m finally gonna pick up Hawkeye. I shall be tormented no longer!

  4. Karen Berger left Vertigo over Hellblazer? What’s the story there Josh?

  5. Finally read my books. Which means I have finally been able to listen to the POTW podcast.
Thanks for answering my question! And attempting the impression – needed more geordie twang though 🙂

  6. “It looks like a Chris Ware book…that’s what I kept thinking the whole time…” – Josh

I think this line is very telling, not of Josh, but of the state of mainstream comics.

It seems that Marvel and DC are now firmly content to sit on the sidelines of innovation.
Independent books have taken the mantle to advance the artform of comics forward.

The comics game now seems to be how can we take the innovations of independent books and make them palatable to a mainstream audience.

Today, innovation in a Marvel book appears to be adapting panel layouts popularized in 2001-2.

Perhaps it was always this way to a degree and I am just mythologizing the company that put out Stray Toasters when I was a kid.
