  1. I had no idea that Team Allred were working on this issue. This week just keeps getting better and better.

  2. Yeah, this was a very pleasant surprise. I think they double-solicited this with #16 but never said Allred was the artist until last week.

  3. Yay, no-more AXV tie-in. Back in the game!

  4. translated from doop – “If you think this is ridiculous. Wait’ll you see what happens on the inside.”

  5. Wow. just….wow.

    🙂

  6. That Wolverine on the cover looks cool.

  7. DOOP! 🙂

  8. God I love this book.

  9. I… had no idea this was coming. The Allreds, Aaron AND Doop? My life is joy.

  10. I seriously want a Doop plushie…

  11. I can understand the motivation behind the whole “I’m not buying anything with an event banner” pledge, but it’s a bastard brother to the “I have to buy everything with an event banner” habit. Both are silly in their own ways. I think most good writers are able to advance their books own ongoing story lines within the framework of the event. Maybe it’s not ideal, but they find a way to make it work. Here, I think Aaron has done a really good job of advancing plot threads present since the first arc. If you skipped the past half dozen issues, not only have you missed some crucial developments, you’ve missed some pretty entertaining comics. Comics, I should add, that can be enjoyed really easily even while skipping the event book. And for what? I guarantee you the effect of your stand does not offset the number of readers who may be attracted by the banner above the title. Your lonely stand is not going to change editorial’s mind. Yeah, you get your feelings of integrity, but is that worth it?

  12. Cover looks so dope, will buy.

  13. I really worry for the day when there’s no Wolverine & The X-Men.. this book has become a cornerstone of my comic reading. Who’da thunk it?

  14. issue’s like this is the reason that I love comics

  15. I haven’t laughed that hard reading a comic in a long time. Maybe the funniest comic I’ve ever read and my all time fav is Preacher, which is no slouch in the comedy department. Mr Aaron and Mr/Mrs Allred, take a bow that was epic.

  16. Wow. This issue is a great reminder of why I continue to read this comic. So funny. (One of) my favorite bits, the summary of what happened previously, “Some stuff happened. Don’t worry your pretty little head about it.” Lol. Nicely summarizes my attitude toward AvX.

  17. They had me at the recap page….(or lack of there of)

  18. This was fantastic …. Now this, THIS is the Jason Aaron I’ve come to love. When he mixes his great humor and imagination with story it never seems to fail

  19. If this isn’t your pick of the week you must hate fun.

    (apologies to Josh)

  20. Howard the duck

  21. Doop has just become my favorite character.

  22. So what’s the deal with Doop?

  23. omg this was fantastic, easily my POW.

  24. This was the most ridiculous comic I’ve ever read. I loved it.

  25. I honestly think this is my favorite single issue of the year. Now I have to go read all of X-Statix. Long live Doop, master of seduction and the funk.

  26. We need to start a Kickstarter for Doop vs. Galactus

  27. This was fucking fantastic. Gotta go back and re-read X-Statix now.

  28. This was delicious. It may sound weird, but one of the things that impressed me the most was the pacing. Aaron and Allred(s) open with cuckoo, and as we creep further into a day in the life of Doop, they put the peddle to the metal and wrap it all up with sheer fucking madness. I would say this went off the rails right around Howard the Duck, but it was never on the rails to begin with. And I loved every second of it. What a ride.

Did anyone else notice the school board lady had a lollipop instead of a cigarette? Terrific.

“My name is James, and this is my impression of Cyclops … with six inch claws stabbed in his face.” Fucking brilliant.

  29. Here is a link with all the translations so you don’t have to figure it out yourself.

  30. I had no intention to pick this up, until I got to the comic shop and saw that cover! Then I saw inside. How could I resist Aaron Allred and Allred. Having never bought a single issue of this book before I was won over from the start. This just has to be pick of the week. It is just simply FUN COMICS! More like this please.

  31. This was a good comic, till we got to Howard the Duck. Then it was a GREAT comic. Pick of the Week!
