‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ – S01E10 – “Freaky”

Celebrate father’s day with an Ultimate Spider-Man marathon and guest star Wolverine in his brown costume in an episode written by Brian Michael Bendis.

Here’s how “Freaky” is described:

In a clash with the mutant supervillain Mesmero, Spider-Man and X-Man Wolverine switch bodies.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

  1. Even though I hate this show, I like how they took a chapter of the actual Ultimate line of comics. Wolverine having to go to high school as Pete and Spidey as Wolvie accidentally chopping off fingers… priceless

I miss the good ol’ days of that costume. Still not gowing to watch that show, though.

  3. supersnac90 says:

Couldn’t handle the voice acting on the show (everyone’s a little to whiney) but some of the decisions have been interesting, the Venom one for example. Also the first time I have ever seen an animated Wolverine look like, well, Wolverine.

In the name of Bendis, I recorded this episode.

    Wish me luck.

  6. Parri Parri (@pazzatron) says:

Direct lift from a horrible issue of Ultimate Spider-man. An issue that Bendis kind of apologises for at the start.

    • DFWRob DFWRob says:

Could not disagree more. Those two “freaky friday” issues of Ultimate Spider-Man were hilarious.

And the context of the issues were important. We just finished a longggggggg dragged out story retreading the Harry, MJ, Peter, Normon relationship. Peter and I as a reader needed a break from the dramatic and Bendis provided. He even begins the arc with a very mocking introduction of how even he couldn’t drag out this story past 2 issues.

I haven’t disliked Ultimate Spider-Man as much as others. In fact after a rough beginning its growing on me the same way Teen Titans did.

It’s nice to see Wolverine in his proper uniform again. He simply should not be in primary yellow and blue. Ever.

  8. Jeff Reid Jeff Reid (@JeffRReid) says:

How strange. Wolverine’s been out of that specific costume for so long, I thought it was D-Man in that picture.

  9. SDucky25 SDucky25 says:

Okay. That Webs of Our Lives joke made me laugh. Loved western Spidey and Doctor Doom. :P

  10. JSAkid JSAkid says:

I’ve never watched this show yet but love how they have Wolvie in the brown n yellow with the shorter mask ears, all his uniforms look better with the shorter to medium length ears if you ask me, I can’t stand when it looks like a whale fin coming off his head.

its as if this show doesn’t exist … a non issue if i miss any of it. Tried to watch it but i really don’t care if i don’t.

  12. Wrkn4life Wrkn4life says:

There were some funny parts in this one.

  13. RahUniQue RahUniQue says:

    ” I’M NOT WOLVERINE! [ snikt! snikt! ]

  14. RahUniQue RahUniQue says:

This episode was great fun. Haters going to hate, but i loved this. So funny.

  15. RahUniQue RahUniQue says:

So should i conclude people who hate USM, hated Teen Titans? Or is that an oversimplification?

  16. Macgargan says:

Well, I’ve not watched Teen Titans but I don’t mind this show, although I preferred Spectacular over this. My 7 year old boy absolutely loves USM , and I think that’s the demograph being aimed for by Marvel, so in that respect, it’s a success.
