Ryan Stegman’s Cover for Fear Itself: Deadpool “Makes Me Say Oh My Lord!”

It's rare that a comic book cover will immediately make me laugh out loud, but Ryan Stegman is that kind of mad genius, isn't he?

Here's the cover for Fear Itself: Deadpool #1 (of 3), out in June, with a script by Christopher Hastings, and pencils by Bong Dazo (who's quickly jumped up the ranks for best names in comics).

I hope Deadpool has a good financial manager, because it hasn't worked out so well for guys like him in the past.

Make sure to check out the process for this cover.

Comments

  1. OH MY LORD!

  2. Thank you for blessing me with a mind to rhyme and two hyped feet

  3. Well we were all thinking it…

  4. You know, it DOES feel good when you know you’re down.

  5. Wait a minute.  M.C. Hammer didn’t wear a clock around his neck.  That was Flavor Flav.

On the other hand, I can only hope that this inspires future rappers to walk around with jewel encrusted “pimp hammers”.

  6. hahaha this is awesome. its been hammer time all the time for me lately. Last night i watched that Family Guy where he creates “Petoria” and does his Hammer song/dance.

  7. @gaffergamgee  The clock is obviously to remind him what time it is.

  8. @RoiVampire  That is how that line goes??  Thank you for answering a 20 year old question for me.  Now if I could only figure out the jibberish line from LZ’s ‘Black Dog’ my ‘missing lyrics’ file would be complete!

  9. “Deadpool don’t hurt’em!”

  10. Why would Deadpool need sunglasses over his mask? That’s just stupid.

  11. @MisterJ –if only there was a interconnected series of tubes that transmitted data…almost like a net and enabled users to ask questions…some sort of “Google” that would make song lyrics intelligible…. =)

@drakedangerz — why does deadpool need parachute pants when he can’t really die??? its fashion. DUH!

  12. STOP – HAMMER TIME!

    Genie pants FTW!

  13. Too legit to quit

  14. Is this only to set up the Deadpool/Addams Family crossover?

  15. Oh Ryan Stegman you made me the happiest Deadpool fan ever.

I’m not gonna get the comic (but Bong Dazo is a good artist) but I want that cover in the worst way now. I might buy this issue just to get the cover and never read it…..So yes Marvel you made me a sucker.

  16. i was planning to bypass fear itself completely but i might have to pick this one up.so are they killing thor and replacing him with someone else? anyone know whats the deal with all the hammers?

  17. I’m afraid to touch this.

  18. My only regret is that I hadn’t thought to make the Hammer Time joke earlier… this is a wonderful cover

  19. Amazing! Can’t wait for the Bobby Drake version.

Y’know, as he teaches us to stop, collaborate and listen.

  20. Normally I wouldn’t touch a Deadpool comic, but I love Christopher Hasting’s Dr McNinja webcomic,
and he’s generally pretty funny, so I suppose I’ll be checking though out!

    That’s an outstanding cover, also.

  21. Stegman = mad genius.

BTW, you guys should check out the She-Hulks mini he drew.  It is awesome.

  22. Wow that cover is mad Genius.

  23. @Neb – Seconded!

  24. This is fear, itself.

  25. Super dope homeboy from the Oak town

  26. @WilliamKScurryJr: No, this is what Fear fears.  If Hammerpool isn’t one of the Worthy, I’ll eat that comic!

  27. I think this is where I’m finally going to try the “I don’t have to buy every tie-in” approach

  28. I would frame this and put it where my family portrait currently hangs.

  29. Apparently this Christopher Hastings guy created a webcomic called Dr. McNinja.

Has anyone ever read this and if it’s any good?

  30. The Adventures of Doctor McNinja is very good indeed. It’s the sort of crazy awesome adventure series that I’d actually liken somewhat to Axe Cop – the two strips even had a crossover at one point. Just check out the first chapters. They seem woefully rudimentary compared to what Hastings is doing now, but still demonstrate the nature of the series very well.

  31. @wallythegreenmonster  Ha!  But vast and insurmountable are the number of questions that I have that I will not do any work to have answered.

  32. I hope they show Deadpool’s all white marbel mansion with football sized refelction pool.
