Fire up your Creedance Clearwater Revival, because Cap's going to Vietnam. Well, one of him is.
In February, Jason Aaron and Ron Garney introduce a second Ultimate universe super soldier who served during the conflict in Vietnam. And it's going to look very, very pretty. It also serves as a return for Aaron to the setting and themes of his 2007 Vertigo series The Other Side. We'll have a little more to tell you about Ultimate Comics Captain America later this week when we sit down to talk with the writer and editors of the new series.
But until then, here's a quick preview, featuring some scintillating Ron Garney art.

Pretty!
I love the coloring.
never liked the Ultimates Cap..came across like suck an ass. Thought maybe with someone other then Millar wrote it ( who makes all characters a$$holes) maybe it would be ok, but from that preview have no interest in this. Nice art though.
Really looking forward to this one. Was re-reading the JMS issues he did with Garney lately. He’s really an under-rated artist.
@davidtobin100 He’s one of the best guys out there. He shoud be a bigger name than he is.
@Conor Agreed. I’m not a big fan of the proper Ultimate Cap. Not sure if its a deliberate choice of the way Millar has written him. He’s missing some judgement and most of all a hidden anti-mutant prejudice. I am a huge Aaron fan (I don’t know if Punisher Max got cancelled and this is its replacement) and Garney’s pages are always brilliant.
Had no idea this was Aaron and Garney. I’ll definitely be getting this at some point, probably once it’s collected.
Looks pretty good, but not enough story to get me that hooked in.
But Garney definitely is the right man to draw this.
@ato220 that book is just on hiatus to give dillon time to finish ultimate avengers. they decided to stall rather than break up the team
OH HELL YEA!!!
I’ve been wanting to check out some non-Scalped Aaron. This looks like it’s worth a shot!
that looks great,
Love SCALPED, but I still haven’t enjoyed an Aaron Marvel book.
I tried Punisher Max, but the issue I got had a guy walking around with his eyeballs hanging out. It was just TOO ridiculous for me.
Punisher MAX? anyone? anyone?… Bueller? (did they just decide to cancel it? Aaron’s Punisher was just as good as Ennis’)
Aww man! I had recently decided that Ultimate Spider-Man was the only Ultimate book worth sticking with or trying but now…*squeal*!
@UncleBob Look five comments up.
@tazz this cap seems more of an asshole. u never see cap be this much of a douche to other soldiers.damn marvel, ill stick with brubakers version.
Not a fan of the direct-from-pencils art. But you guys are rigth. Ron Garney is awesome and should be a way bigger name.
You think this A stand for France?!
I thought we already had this preview for some reason. Looks good though.
That’s some sweet stuff, can’t wait! This is a great creative team and I’m very glad they didn’t split after Weapon X.
@RoiVampire Thanks! I had been wondering where it was. I’m not sure if I agree with that choice, Punisher Max was much better than Ultimate Avengers, I’m sure sales would prove otherwise.
@ato220 If i remember correctly Dillon planned to do both of them with only a month or so hiatus for Punisher but then a personal matter, i think maybe health related, slowed him down so the punisher hiatus was extended
Back to this book, no one else draws Cap like Garney. Damn this is going to be a pretty pretty book.
GARNEY ON CAP ONCE AGAIN, IM IN
