PREVIEW: Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Cartoon

One of the cooler things we saw at the San Diego Comic-Con was the first footage from the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated show, which is coming to DisneyXD this fall.  I'm not a big cartoons, animation guy, but i have to admit, I was impressed by this cartoon.  If I was a kid, I would eat this show up.  We also heard about some of the behind the scenes things with the cartoon and it sounds as if Jeph Loeb is making some very good decisions on the staff working on the show.  Hopefully that will parlay into a long run of some great Avengers cartoons that pull in kids and new readers!

Marvel provided us with the preview trailer for the cartoon for everyone to check out:

Here's Marvel's provided description:
Featuring IRON MAN, THOR, CAPTAIN AMERICA and THE HULK! When the planet is threatened by Super Villains, time traveling conquerors, alien invaders, mythical monsters or mad robots bent on the total destruction of humanity, when the forces of evil are so overwhelming that no single hero has the power to save the world, when there is no hope left…the AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! All-new The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes animated series from Marvel Animation premiering on Disney XD this fall!

Avengers Cartoon on Disney

Comments

  1. Looks pretty good. I’m looking forward to this and the Marvel anime on G4. I hope these cartoons pull in some new younger readers.

  2. I hope kids like it, but this definitely doesn’t looks like something that I’m even remotely interested in. I was hoping for something more along the quality of JLU but based in the Marvel Universe. And unfortunately, this is definitely not that.

  3. Let’s see, we got Hulk, Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hawkeye, Wasp, Pym, and Black Panther.  Good lineup.

It reminds me of the X-Men cartoons, but this show has characters I care about (Sorry Ron)

Definitely have to DVR this to save for my son.

  4. Man…I really hope that isn’t the theme tune.

  5. Oooh… looks fun!

  6. Holds no interest for me at all. It seems to be aimed squarely at the under-6’s.

  7. Finally a new cartoon that I can watch with my son. I still think i’ll enjoy it more than him.

  8. Everything looks good except for that really annoying song, they need to scrap that intro theme!

  9. Looks awesome!   I’ve liked all the Marvel toons better than most of the DC stuff out there, all of the DC stuff is the same mold, of course it’s the "if it’s not broke don’t fix it" model of the industry and the JLU and Batman stuff is good so nothing wrong with that, it’s cool to see more marvel characters on tv

The bias seems to be, when DC (Timm) does it it’s classy and cool and not dumbed down (even though it is, but it’s also done very very well) but when Marvel does it, it’s somehow cheesey and "just for kids" instead of "all ages" and I disagree with that bias

  10. @SpiderTitan: Everything looks good except for that really annoying song, they need to scrap that intro theme!

@redlibertyx: Man…I really hope that isn’t the theme tune.

    Right there with You!

  11. Awesome looking!  But that song…no.

  12. I’ll definitely check it out.  That sound at the end though…oh man, that’s pretty terrible.

  13. *Correction: instead of "sound" use the word "song"

  14. Overall, I am impressed.  My one nitpick Thor’s helmet.  The parts that go down either side of his face are distracting.  That shot of Hawkeye readying the bow was very cool.

  15. I have to agree wholeheartedly with LostArtist. There is a bias that comes with properties that are not spearheaded by Mr. Timm ( who is great, by the way. ) Spectacular Spider-Man & Iron-.an Adventures are great animated programs that function for children and the adult fanboys, alike.

  16. *Iron-Man

  17. @RahUniQue: You’d be hard pressed to find a bigger SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN fan than me, but it’s just not on the same level as the Timm cartoons. No super hero cartoons are. And that’s okay.

  18. Looks like Marvel’s JLU. Hope it turns out to be a great show, Marvel’s cartoons are so hit and miss.

  19. Looks great to me.

  20. This looks better than the wretched X-Men cartoon series from the 1990s… kids today get everything better than we had it, dammit.

  21. The voice acting seems….not so good..

     Keeping high hopes though!

  22. Looks like this could be a lot of fun. Count me in!

  23. the polish isnt there like on JLU or Batman.  Marvel could be going crazy with cartoons if they had somebody like Bruce Timm really making sure the animation was up to snuff.

  24. Meh. I can’t put my finger on why, but…meh….

  25. Needs more Hawkeye!

  26. Oh boy i hope Im ready for what comes next!

  27. Although I’m pretty sure it won’t be as good, it sort of reminds me of Justice League Unlimited cartoon.

  28. this looks like it’ll be the quality of the 90’s Spider-Man or even Spectacular Spider-Man.  not quite at the level of 90’s X-Men, but getting there.  as I do with all cartoons I watch, I will be translating it up to adult level.  what I tend to do is say to myself, "ok, if a character is saying something this way, then if it was aimed at adults, it would be said that way."  that method usually works for me, and it appears I will have to do that with Avengers.  at any rate it looks way better than the previous Avengers cartoon.

  29. As someone who grew up in the late 80s early 90’s Superhero cartoons are so much a part of what I consider when I think of animation, top of the line animation at that. I very much looking forward to this, the last few years we saw some great cartoons with Marvel charaters, both Spider-man and X-men were really good. And though they didn’t last that long I am interested to see what a cartoon with Marvel having total control will be like. It’s also fun to see that it’s old school avengers (I just started reading old Lee/Kirby Avengers) so I’m interested to see what voices they assign to what characters, characters who as far as I know have never had a cartoon voice before. Excited about this one.
