When we find an artist that we like, we like to joke on the show that they should draw all the comics. Well, I’d make the joke that Francesco Francavilla should draw all the comic book covers, but he’s pretty much almost there as it is. But who’s complaining? Certainly not me! Especially when they are as awesome as the variant cover to Archie #628, as seen on the right.
We’ve said a few times over the last year that Archie Comics is quietly doing some innovative and interesting stuff and having Francesco Francavilla draw the variant covers for their flagship book certainly qualifies as interesting. And unexpected. And awesome.

I’ve never considered picking up an Archie comic before this one. The fact that the members of KISS are portrayed as demons from another dimension tickles me pink.
Part 1 was a total blast. Fun to read and look at. “Life With Archie” is a great comic as well. I haven’t been as blown away by the double digests, but the regular comics are all a lot of fun, and a nice escape from darker more adult-themed comics. Maybe iFanboy could do an Archie Comics spotlight or interview soon?
