April 26, 2012 4:12 pm I would suggest that if you vocally support Moore or Roberson's side of the argument, then you should do so financially as well by boycotting the book. I my eyes, anyone that buys it is endorsing it and has made their stance cleat. I think fans easily forget that they are as complicit in this kind of behavior as DC is.
April 26, 2012 4:03 pm hey guys, i've been collecting this DD run but haven't read the latest 3 issues so i had no idea about the crossover. I'd like to pick up the tie ins in Spiderman and Punisher when i hit the comic shop this afternoon. Can anyone let me know the issue numbers? (sorry to be lazy. on my phone : ) )
February 3, 2012 3:44 pm my question is: but is alan moore gonna read them? he's moaned about not reading any new comics these days, but no matter how he feels, i think that even he will be intrigued enough to pick it up. As for me, i'll give it a go, but it's going to be very bitter-sweet. Rights ownership aside; no creator should have to suffer his work being published/altered without his blessing. I know we live in the ever-transforming ether of copyright laws, but this is not a fan remix or a piece of fan fiction, this is a company capitalizing on a property in a very typical way. The whole notion of creating a prequel years after the fact is absurd. I hate george lucas for ever allowing this idea into the collective conscious. Boardoom Execs 6,666,666,66 Creators: nil
January 9, 2012 1:40 pm fantastic article Jim. One of my most vivid memories involves the hulk tv show : ) You have to wonder though, how sad will it be the day your own children outgrow your interest? I like to think though, that by giving them such a rich and creative foundation, that eventually, even if they stray, they'll find their way back . and you're right, nothing could be cooler.
November 25, 2011 1:28 pm The article below offers some tough words on Frank Miller's recent rant. I usually like the Guardian's journalism but it's severely disappointing that the article writes off the comic-book medium in its entirety with one sweeping generalization. still, some of the stuff it's saying about Miller's point of view is interesting http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2011/nov/24/frank-miller-hollywood-fascism
October 21, 2011 1:11 pm ah man. his captions are sooooo bad. those are some of the worst one liners i have seen in a while. i feel so embarrassed for him. He comes across as such an unfunny douche.
October 18, 2011 5:44 pm Anyone who is interested in the topic of online piracy should read the Pirate's Dilemma. I think you'll be very surprised by it. http://www.amazon.com/Pirates-Dilemma-Culture-Reinventing-Capitalism/dp/1416532188

October 18, 2011 12:43 pm man, people are getting emotional here... Personally I don't think anything should be free nor should anyone expect it to be... Now for a dose of reality, this isn't just about comics. It's about all media. A consumer these days is faced with more daily content than ever before in history. The old methods of assigning value to individual pieces of content simply don't work. That's really the problem here. The value of content in an age of so much content. Now, some people will always take for free, but many people that do, I believe, would actually pony up if the deck wasn't stacked. i love Ifanboy so don't take this as a diss, but have you ever counted in an episode how many 'you should pick this up' recommendations you make each episode. Now add to that movies, new music coming out, new video games coming out ...every single month. The entertainment dollar only goes so far and if comics want to compete and survive, then they need to adapt in a meaningful way. that's not a moral issue, it's just a very basic fact. Now, You can get defensive and say, 'well if you can't afford a new car you shouldn't drive' or some such thing, but I fear for where that will lead us eventually. We need to start working towards a new solution. The market is clearly contracting, and it seems everyone's pointing fingers at the consumer - there's not enough of 'em, too many thieves...yada yada....and there we are, full circle and back to the glass house. anyone got a spare rock?
