My only response is that the nonexistent subplot didn't happen because it would destract from the actual story of the annual.

That being said, Curt Conners may have been a better choice.

This is a great event to post on.  You're off to a good start (and the pressure is mounting)

 speaking of Mystique and Handoffs - the handoff from Vaughan to McKeever was alright, but McKeever never lived up to what Vaughan established.

Arcade was the first villain I ever read, and finally I found him threatening in this very book.
