Garth Ennis Battlefields
If I have prior experience with a character from a different medium, I always hear that voice in my head. With most characters, I hear the voices from the cartoons that aired during the 90's, like Batman TAS, X-men and Spider-Man
If I have no prior history with a character I usually take into account where they're from. For example, with John Constantine I always hear a British voice in my head.
For me it's Jason Blood/Etrigan The Demon. I was first introduced to the character in an episode of the Batman cartoon that aired on the WB back in the late 90's. I always thought the idea of 2 separate entities sharing a body was a cool idea, but I haven't taken the time to read anything involving the character other than when he appeared in Kevin Smith's Green Arrow run.
And anything New Gods related.
First and foremost, I'm stoked to the gills to read Geoff Johns writing Batman. But what I'm really excited for is DC embracing the OGN format. Hopefully more companies will follow suit. The sooner comics move to a trade based system, the better.
Dear DC (And Marvel--don't think I've forgotten about you guys),
You know what I would really love, and make me truly excited to read your books? I would love it if I could follow a character or series without having to read 4 other books. That would be swell.
Thanks,
Kory - fan since '93 (But I don't know how much longer)
P.S. Sorry ifanboy to get so negative, but I really am sick of these non-stop events and "non-event" status quos.
I love the Flash, but I really can't stand all the speed force mumbo jumbo. It totally takes me out of the story.
I have a couple thoughts regarding those sales figures...
1) I never want to hear another comic fan bitch about events, because as evidenced by the sales figures they secretly love them.
2) I never want to hear another fan bitch about $4 comics.
Several of the oversized hardcovers I own are such a chore to read, I just end up buying them again in paperback form so I can at least read them without having to borrow a forklift.
I've done this with so many stories (Watchmen, DC: New Frontier, Dark Knight Returns, Bendis' Daredevil - just to name a few) I think I should just give up buying the larger formats altogether and just stick to paperbacks.
