I loved the YA under Heinberg, but I admit I had to warm up to Gillen. However, issue #5 totally got me. #5 was the end of the first ark and it summed up the story perfectly.

Now #9 it seems, concludes the second ark and it is equally stunning. The one thing I didn’t like about Gillen from the start was that his characters always seemed to speak in riddles, or rather that they would constantly hint at things and tease me. But it is in these concluding issues that Gillens story threads really come together and suddenly the whole story of the last issues unfolds and excels everything before.

The “trick” the kids used to escape mom and especially the way the ending felt emotional and set up various new plot lines without loosing the overall storyline just felt great and absolutely satisfying.

While this issue was probably less experimental in either art (although it was still great) or storytelling (yet dialogs were also pretty good) than previous issues it was since a long time the most emotional issue.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
