Si Spurrier? Never heard of ‘im. Legion? One of the less interesting X-characters up to this time. At least we will be seeing Rogue in “Uncanny Avengers.” I’ll give the next incarnation of “X-Men Legacy” a shot, but I have enjoyed Christos Gage’s short run on this title, even though he has had to work around AVX. This issue begins a new arc, and Gage has pretty clearly been inspired by “John Carter of Mars.” (Which is ok. The copyright on “John Carter” lapsed long ago.) Magik has exhiled Rogue to a dimension where insect people are battling leopard people. Rogue still retains a portion of Ms. Marvel’s powers, and seeing her extraordinary abilities, the leopard people enlist her to fight on their side. The leopard people do appear to be the just side, since they are fighting to prevent the bug people from assimilating them into their hive mind, where individual will and choice are subordinated. Unfortunately for Rogue, her Ms. Marvel powers are fading, which will leave her rather lacking in the ability to lead the leopard folks as a mighty warrior. In a rather humorous scene, the feline general offers Rogue the sexual services of his finest warriors.
Rafa Sandoval appears to hail from the Terry Dodson school of penciling. Figures tend to be rounded, and there aren’t a lot of sharp edges. Rogue often has a big head with a small face. Sandoval gets the job done, but I didn’t see anything extraordinary in the art.
