I was going to drop this title after this issue, because I didn’t feel like it really had any direction.  Since the name change Xavier’s had been stuck in the same damn medical facility having a conversation / telepathic battle and it seemed like we were back to the Claremont Excalibur trouble where Xavier just can’t carry a solo book.

It’s still not quite clear where this all is going, but with this issue at least we started some forward progress and I’ve decided to stick around for awhile longer.  It is still threatening to turn into the “Xavier Remembers Better X-Men Stories That This One” book but with a really well written use of his powers and an interesting peeling back of Xavier’s own past a plot might be starting to emerge beyond having third tier X-characters few people know and even less like shouting at each other.

I’m not really going to go overboard here.  There’s finally some potential in this title, and I’m interested in seeing where it goes now.  That’s more than I could say before this issue.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
