I don't care what people say about the direction of this book, Kyle and Yost write a damn fine story. Sort of an epilogue to another story, we see the ramifications of alot of things that happened in the last arc. Rahne is still not mentally well after her whole mind altering and killing her father and just the sight of Warren with his wings unfurled will send her into a rage. Warpath has essentially realized he has gone down the wrong path. Angel can transform at will between the two variations of his persona and X-23 is still X-23. We also learn that the villians revived in the last arc have reintegrated themselves into their old lives hinting that X-Force still has alot of stories to tell before they inevitably start huting people like toad. It also clarifies that this first arc takes place before Young X-men's first arc which apparently takes place prior to X-men 500
I also love how Kyle and yost handle X-23 when the team was announced i thought all the character development she developed in New Xmen would dissapear but due to her nature as a weapon she seems to be doing quite well under the circumstances enought to enjoy pancakes with Josh Foley who under Choi and Oback is back to the old gold skin. Now when he joined the cast i figured he would be a member of the team but in an interesting twist he willingly allows himself to be mindwiped in order to prevent himself from going down the same path X-Forcie is preparing to go down. While i had hoped he'd join the team, with this it looks like he isn't but the likes of Domino will join up in the near future to pick up the slack and with Archangel as well the team is looking mighty dangerous.
This issue also sets up the next arc where XForce hunts down the Vanisher who apparently has been hired to steal a vile of the legacy Virus. Now the Vanisher is one of those classic X-men villians in the same class as Unus the Untouchable and the Blob but i really like his redesign and while i don't really see him as a threat it will be interesting to see what Kyle and Yost do to make him an interesting target
There is so many things i can say about Choi and Oback and their pencils and coloring is gorgeous. Recently i learned that Choi doesn't have is art inked which added a whole new layer to the art because i came to realize how badass and tight his pencils are for Oback to just lay down colors. Plus they draw a mighty fine X-23
I'm loving this series, loving this tone and can't wait for Old Ghosts to kick into high gear
