So we found out that Hope is not the reincarnation of Jean, but maybe the rebirth of the Dark Phoenix. Even Cable's death was no shocker to anyone who read this crossover. Overall Second Coming mostly satisfied me. It was better than the previous crossover Necrosha and the second installment of the trilogy, Messiah War. I can not say that this crossover was better than the Messiah Complex. The storyline in the first part of the trilogy had an excellent pacing and was organized well while the final installment had several books that missed the mark.
Chapter thirteen of this crossover starts off outside of the dome where Thor tries to bust open the dome. At the same time many civilians stand and pray that the X-Men will save their love ones inside the dome. Meanwhile, a techno organic infected Cable is able to open the portal in order for X-Force to return to the present. After he stares at Hope, the virus makes him explode and his metallic arm only remains. Suddenly the time portal closes and Bastion flies off toward the Golden Gate Bridge. Cyclops says sorry and attempts to put his hand on Hope's shoulder, but Hope continues to blame Cyclops for what he had done to Cable.
Next Bastion destroys the Golden Gate Bridge and the X-Men fall into the water. Bastion, Lang, and Creed then approaches Hope all in Nimrod forms. Immediately to protect herself from an attack, Hope forms a psionic armor similar to Armor's powers. Bastion is blasted by the optic blasts from Hope because he is unable to classify her powers and adapt to them. Hope then manifests Colossus' metalic powers and punches through Bastion with steel hands. After she forms an energy field from touching the ground and covers Bastion in ice, Bastion states that she is not the Messiah, but a destroyer that will eliminate everyone. Now in Phoenix form, Hope blasts Bastion, but he is able to grab hold of her neck. Cyclops right away saves Hope by blasting Bastion's arm and Wolverine jumps on him. Hope touches the ground again and is able to destroy Bastion along with the dome. All the X-Men just stare at Hope levitating in full Phoenix form.
As a final note, I am very curious to know if Hope is related to the Summers bloodline. If so, is she Cable's daughter from the future? Or Cyclops and Jean Grey's daughter from the parallel future? Then it must be true that Jean will eventually return. Maybe she is from an alternate future like Cable, Nate Grey, and Rachel Summers.

How do you figure she is now Dark Phoenix? I didn’t take it that way.
I thought about the Dark Phoenix only because Bastion stated that Hope was not the Messiah, but the adversary of the savior and that everyone will not survive. Jean Grey maybe the savior to stop Hope from killing everyone.
possbily, seems more like she has all there powers simalar to Mimic or a Super-Skrull. Which isnt the most exciting thing. Would have loved for her powers to be a little more of a suprise of twist.
I liked this issue. I kinda felt bad for Emma when she sees Hope manifest the phoenix raptor and Scott running off to help her. Like she’s still competing with Jean or something. Good review dude.
i thinks shes the manifest of all the powers that where taken away on m-day
@peterporker I thought that too, but she displays the powers of Armor, Colossus, Cyclops and Jean Grey. All of whom have their powers – except Jean who is dead. (And y’know, the Phoenix powers aren’t a mutant power but we’ll see how they explain that one.)
I’m thinking that Hope has similar powers to Rogue except with a healing rather than harming touch. Since she was able to touch Rogue and bring her out of the coma, while also draining Rogue of her absorbed powers/memories
@3rdRedBird That seems overly complicated. 😉
