It’s a sad day when you flip through a book and think “Well, that’s the least ugly art so far in the series.”  But that’s pretty much where we’re at.  I am not immediately put off by the art on an X-book, and I consider it a win.  Or I might actually like the art.  Honestly, when it comes to the X-books I can’t even tell anymore.

Anyone complaining about how there’s been too much lead up and not enough action in this crossover is going to love the first wordless nine pages of this issue.  It’s all punchy punch, splodey splode, ow.  The rest of the book is devoted to how to solve a problem that seems even bigger in this issue than it has in the previous ones.

For me, this issue speaks volumes about how well Kyle and Yost work together on the X-books.  I have not enjoyed a single issue of this series since the last one they wrote.  And, as with that last issue, there are some serious consequences for some prominent X-characters made all the more impactful by the not dwelling on said consequences.

People have been complaining about that? Jesus–there was, like, one issue that had no big action scene, and that was the burying Nightcrawler issue. The rest have been pretty solid in "punch punch, splodey splode, ow," as you described it.

  2. @DarkKnightJared: Some people are fickle, and like lots of punches.
