in a week of comics that let me down, this book was leading the pack.

i loved last month’s issue – i loved bernard chiang’s wonder woman, i loved the personal story the started to unfold between her and nemesis, and i loved the touch of  humor with which the khunds were treated.

this month’s issue? chiang’s art was middling – i think he drew the personal, scenes much better than the action scenes. when he has to make diana emote, he draws her beautifully, but when he draws her fighting, the art sinks back to earth. not bad, but not what i loved last issue.

as for the story, the personal touches were lacking (a touch of nemesis feeling doubt, but nothing from diana), the humor was all but absent, and the alien green lantern’s interaction with the khunds turned into something a bit cliched and uninteresting.

no more chiang, but hopefully we’ll head somewhere better next month.
