While remaining creepy (and yes, Chainsaw hands are definitely creepy), the second chapter of this trip to the Asylum with Logan heads off strongly into the land of the super-weird and freaky. To me that changed the tone slightly from psychological Horror to crazy, creepy comic romp. While that is a fine story, I somehow did not find it as compelling. Also, the main villain, Dr. Rot, just struck me as totally crazy, with no rhyme or reason for what he does. This can be fun. Certainly the Joker is this sort of character and I believe there have been a few good stories involving him. But again, a totally insane character means there is not going to be a great sinister plan going on behind the scenes. Just another creepy, insane one. We'll see though. Maybe Aaron will surprise me.
I also thought Paquette's art got a little rougher, sketchier than the first issue. I didn't notice as many nice layouts or finally illustrated panels. I will say that the painterly nightmare, crazy Logan panels did pop out.
All in all, I was a little disappointed by this second issue of the arc. This is probably mostly because I thought the story was going somewhere else that I liked better. It was all right. Definitely got some icks and yikes from me.
