I've always been a huge fan of Jason Aaron's Scalped, and, up to this point, have been a fan of this title as well. This issue, however, falls drastically short of what I've come to expect. This arc has Wolverine devising a way to hunt down and kill the "adamantium men." He finds out that beating the crap out of the "adamantium men" until their healing factors can't keep them alive is the only way to kill them. So his solution is to fly an Apache helicopter out to an oil platform where they're waiting for him and blow them all up. First off, who knew Logan had access to closly guarded military arsenal, and that HE KNEW HOW TO FLY AN APACHE!!! Come on, couldn't Jason Aaron have been a little more creative? The best part is the end, instead of blowing up, the adamantium men jump in the water and are eaten by Jaws-sized great whites that have been circling the platform. Logan crashes the helicopter and complains that he's afraid of the water because it could kill him. The next shot is him walking on a beach with no explanation of how he survived his self prescribed only "vulnerability." I'm ussually one to buy into crazy stories and implausible outcomes, but, in this case, Jason Aaron went overboard and opted for a story with little creativity/originality. The only redeeming feature of the story is the witty dialogue between Maverick and Wolverine; and Ron Garney's arwork. His pages restore the grittiness of how a Wolverine book should look.

I was bothered by those same things, including the ridiculously convenient Great White sharks. They must feed them there regularly, or something. I enjoyed the thought that drowning is the one thing Logan is afraid of, which makes a lot of sense. Also made a lot of sense to blow up the platform and drop these adamantium men, who should have the same vulnerability, into the water. So I give him points for the ideas, even if I agree the execution was a little sloppy at the end. Felt like he was just trying to get the storyline wrapped up. Really falling in love with the Garney art, which saved the issue for me.
