For years, perhaps decades, it’s been tough to tell an original, well-written Wolverine story.  And in the past two years, it’s already become difficult to tell a cool story involving Dakken and Romulus.   Right now, the best story about their relationship is being told in New Avengers, where they haven’t even shared a panel.  This Wolverine Origins sotry-arc continues to be a cool concept that’s just too messily told to be interesting.  A lot of the story seems to suffer from poor Marvel U editing.  The Dakken/Wolvy story doesn’t really merit existing in as many titles as it does.  And Fury’s inclusion in the story is…questionable.

The pencilling is very different from the pencilling in any of the other Marvel books I read this week, though, and I enjoyed that.  With each passing page, I liked Braithwaite’s work a little more.  Could have used afew less lines on the faces, but it was otherwise a very good looking book.

  1. So Wolverine got another sword? I thought he gave it to Captain America… or is it his son’s? What I’m saying is what happens to the sword in the end? Or is the cover bullshit?

  2. As a big Nick Fury fan, I sadly agree… he seems pointless in this story.

  3. I agree Braithwaite’s art is a very nice change of pace… and sadly I also agree that the story here is craaaaap.

Hope to see more art from Doug Braithwaite though.
