Wolverine and the X-Men is the series I never knew I needed until I got it. I’ve always liked the X-Men from afar but never really got into the comics themselves due to their admittedly convoluted continuity. With WXM, it’s much more streamlined and simplified: Schism happened, now we’re here. The book even references the events of Uncanny X-Force (which I haven’t read yet but will in trades), and I had almost no problem understanding who the characters were and what they were doing here.

Jason Aaron’s comedic sensibilities and spot-on characterizations and Nick Bradshaw’s wonderful artwork make this title a must-read for anyone who’s a fan of the X-Men, or a fan of comics in general, or a fan of high school stories involving hormone-ridden mutants and casual superscience. Put simply: pick up this book.

  1. At the beginning of this issue I was a bit worried about Bradshaw on art. But by the end of it I was a fan. Great comic!
