This issue was almost my Pick of the Week. Tying into AvX by showing the school and its faculty and students coming to grips with the whole conflagration between the two teams, this book gave more depth to Wolverine and Cyclops than has been evident in any of the main story so far. Wolverine is trying to be loyal to his ideal of the school while also feeling like an X-man and an Avenger. Cyclops comes across as both sincere but also frightened for the future of his people. In many ways, this is the culmination of both Schism and Avengers vs Xmen because it lays bare, in ways that neither of those stories have, the philosophical underpinnings of their viewpoints. Wolverine is all about hope for the future as embodied in the students he wants to educate and train and Cyclops is all about preserving what they currently have and using any resource to protect mutants. This is handled in a much more logical fashion than Cyclops blasting Captain America or Cap shoving Wolverine out an airplane. Its a sad situation when the tie-ins are vastly, head and shoulders, better than the main story.

Story: 5 - Excellent
