I've enjoyed the new numbering of Wolverine since he went to Hell. While people on the net were slagging the story or losing interest in the story (because Weapon X was about as perfect Wolverine as we can ever hope for), I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed the first two issues.
This third issue is a huge step down in the story department. Things move along, but not in an exciting way. Logan in hell doesn't do much, his interactions with those around him don't do much and the perceived standoff with Creed that we were expecting after the end of #2 just fizzles to nothing. It's a big letdown now. People are trying to get Logan back, Logan is trying to stay alive. There just should be more.
The art is fantastic though. Not too much going on in the background, the colors aren't splendid, but for some reason I really like the line work on the characters, especially when close up. It's not my favorite art in the world, but it's nice to see stuff that is a bit lighter on Marvel.
The backup story is pretty excellent once again and hopefully this one will serve as part of the main story, which could make things a little more interesting.
I still am enjoying the series on a whole, and I trust that Aaron will pull it out in the end, but this didn't have any "WHOA" moments or interesting twists in my mind, it just sort of progressed leisurely, when I want crazy shit.
