I was very excited for this series to start and they did not disappoint. I know that other authors have written Bucky and have written him well, but I was looking forward to Brubaker taking the character on in a series dedicated to his clandestine adventures. Both his “off the grid” status and his relationship with the Black Widow have a ton of dramatic potential and the story was both fun and interesting. I can’t wait for the second issue.

Overall, the art was excellent, something I’ve come to expect from this team. It was sometimes difficult for me to follow during the fight sequences, but it had the effect of adding more chaos to a chaotic event (I don’t know if this was intended or not).

I think this character (and his place in the current Marvel U) gives the creators a great chance to produce an ongoing espionage series that just might be a success on the racks. It was a ton of fun and, as I said, I’m really looking forward to the next one.
