I thought the concept of this book was really interesting. And, like most series by the Luna Brothers (though this by only one Luna brother) the first issue hooked me in. While I enjoyed Ultra and Sword, Girls was an exercise in diminishing returns for me.

I’m afraid Whispers is headed in the same direction. The cover to this issue is amazing. But the art inside is incredibly inconsistent. Josh Luna’s faces are anatomically awkward. The lines don’t seem to reflect actual facial expressions. Also, the heads seem to sit at unusual angles on the neck. And none of the poses looked real.

Storywise, what began as quirky, is quickly moving toward annoying for me. Every character has one personality trait that seems to define them. This one’s OCD, this one lives with her mother, this one is a care taker. I may flip through the trade when it comes out, but I am unlikely to pick up another issue.
