Take a moment to consider the title of this book, and ask yourself, with all honesty, how could you possibly pass on a chance to read something as “high concept” as that? Clearly, I’m one of those suckers who will instantly grab something off the shelf because of it’s craziness, and I’m rather glad I did in this case.

“Werewolves on the Moon: Versus Vampires” is an interesting comic. It’s a truly awesome comedy experience, and at the same time, at it’s core it’s a horror book. But it never feels like a horror book at all. The artwork is very cartoony and simple, but at the same time, I love it. Absolutely love it. It was the cover, after all, that caught my eye way before I looked at the book’s title. The cover is magnificent; and I think it must be something to do with the colouring, but it looks even better on the actual issue than it did on my computer (which NEVER happens.)

The writing, meanwhile, is something different. While it’s funny, it does feel slightly wordy in places. There are, however, moments where the writing is truly cartoony and wonderful and makes for an even more interesting book.

I’ll definately be picking up the next two issues of this series. It’s enjoyable, and honestly, even if the story wasn’t good, I’d buy it for the artwork.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. That actually sounds rather intriguing.

  2. You sold me I am picking this up

  3. Joe Casey did a werewolves on the moon story back in 2004.  Full Moon Fever. Wasn’t the same tone though.
