What I thought was going to be a great series involving Lobo turned out to be one of the first letdowns of 2011. Sure, Lobo’s in here, but the idea of DC doing an anthology mini-series about C-List characters doesn’t sit right with me; especially when you notice they’re padding it out to 6 issues and dealing more in the beauty of the artwork than in the brilliance of the story. That being said, the Lobo story here was great fun; a violent space encounter that evokes Star Wars and Alien, all while featuring the ever brilliant Lobo. The art by Jerry Ordway was gorgeous, and the story even managed to attain some level of competence. The other two stories, meanwhile, faltered completely on story; Aaron Lopresti drew a gorgeous Garbage Man story, which failed to engage beyond the stunning line-work, while Kevin Maguire drew a fantastic-looking Tanga story that was held together by a fairly average storyline. In the end, this would have been better as a mini-series featuring all three characters together, but as it is I’ll keep reading for the art and the Lobo story.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 5 - Excellent
