Wow. What an amazing issue. This series continues to stun me week after week with how great it is. Robert Kirkman has got to be the best writer in comics right now. This issue really reminded me of Cormac McCarthy's book "The Road" in its portrayl of the Hunters and their cannibalism (which is an amazing book, by the way, and I reccomend it to anyone and everyone).
I find it interesting as well that we are 65 issues into a post apocalyptic zombie series, and this is the first time I have actually thought about the possibility of cannibalism. Its seems like something that would be thought of earlier, and even, if it were a lesser writer than Kirkman, something that would have been introduced and pushed upon the reader earlier in the series. But Kirkman made a very approached the idea very slowly and realisticly, in a way that I didnt even question the thought when it was said. He just has a way with his dialouge that makes everything seem real.
What I really loved about this issue was the conversation between Rick and the Hunters. It was a great conversation that was had between the two, and it showed many things about the characters and just what is going on. The desperation of the life everyone is leading in the series was especially shown when the Hunters admitted to killing and eating their own children during their travels. It was even more interesting to see that there's a possibility of Rick turning this way on the last page when he exclaims: "Maybe we'll have to have us a taste" to the Hunters. Now, more than likely, this is just a good teaser to buy the next issue, but it's something, that if did happen, I wouldn't question it.
I also enjoyed how Dale was portrayed in this issue. He was a character that I liked a lot in the first several story arcs, but my interest in him had really trailed off in the last few. His questioning of how real the relationship with Andrea was really has made me like him a lot more. It's also kind of a feel good moment between him and Andrea in the beginning, so that helped things as well.
Overall, I think this was probably the best issue of this current arc.
