Well, I have to say Image is really impressing me lately. Not only is
this book still as engaging as it ever has, but they know their
readership well enough to know that if they like this they'll like
Chew.
I wasn't going to pick that book up, because it was such a pain to track down the first issue, but now I guess I have to.
Now, on to the issue.
I liked this issue a lot.
The reveal of the hunter's "dark secret" isn't really that shocking. It's interesting, but it doesn't seem too unique.
This story is supposed to only last five issues, so I'm kind of worried it's going to be a rather abrupt ending as the pacing is the same as it has ever been, and we've only just now been really introduced to the "villains."
I don't like to use that word to describe people in this book because, with the exception of the crazy Mayor, there really just doing what they think they need to do to survive.
I like the back story of the preacher.
I absolutely love the art. It is the only way to really get a feel for how much time is passing between each issue. Look at the beard on Rick's face. It has slowly gotten thicker and more dirty bum like. It's a little thing but it is also a great thing.
I read an interview with Kirkman where he said that Glenn was dead before this story was over, knowing Kirkman, he's just saying that so we'll be surprised when he isn't.
