This was probably the worst issue of this series in the 5 years
I’ve been reading it. The art was fine, but the writing just felt
sloppy and fan fic-y. This seemed to be like Kirkman read Ennis’s
Crossed and took what was done for shock in that book and tried to jam
it into this book, which always worked much better the closer to
realistic it was played. I also think the introduction of the priest
does nothing but give someone to go off on that will take it. As far as
the resolution to the conflict of the issue, I like that the character
that took care of it did, because it shows he can function in this
world, but that little bit of pay off doesn’t justify story that set it
up.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 3 - Good

  1. "This was probably the worst issue of this series in the 5 years I’ve been reading it."

    Wow, I couldn’t disagree more.

  2. Spoiler for those who havent read the issue.

I don’t want to ruin anything for anyone, but I think it seems obvious that the preist is the scouting party for who ever those dudes with guns at the end there

  3. @Thisisegan – I was thinking the same thing.  Although, Rick and co. don’t trust him even a little bit right now.

  4.  /disagree entirely with the review. /agree with the comments.

  5. Sorry it wasn’t your cup o’ tea, but I thought it was a strong issue. Kirkman is a machine! Month in month out with great twisting storytelling.

  6. I can understand that someone doesn’t like TWD (there are some problems in Kirkmans writing that I don’t have a problem with, but they are there), but I wonder how you can read the book for 5 years and suddenly think this issue is that bad? It’s pretty consistent with the overall run. In fact, i think it’s one of the better issues.
