Voodoo – what to say about Voodoo? Well, she’s mysterious. And she spends a lot of time scantily-clad here. But unlike last week’s RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS, the nudity here is functional, purposeful. Tasteful? Maybe not entirely. But considering that hard times have driven Voodoo to work as a stripper, it makes sense. She and her coworkers are the sort of down-on-their-luck, trying-to-hold-things-together girls that make them seem real.

And, well, Voodoo isn’t human. But you probably knew that. But that revelation comes late, after lots of character setup. But it’s good character setup, and not hard on the eyes if you go for that.

So…I like it. I’ll have to see how I feel about it next month before I commit to buying #2, but I did enjoy this first installment and could imagine getting into this series.

  1. Only a 3 on art? To each their own but I’d love to hear why the art didnt rate higher for you!

    • I’ll admit my eye for art is not the most refined, but nothing quite wowed me here. It was all attractive and competent, but I guess I never felt myself lingering on a panel just to look at it. I’d have given it more like a 3.5 if I could’ve, though.
