Isn't it great when something lives up to the hype? Rick Remender seems to be the master of taking smaller characters and showing everyone that they can be just as good, if not better than the "big" heroes. Even more so in this case, given that Venom and his unwanted company are all new iterations of old characters. And all of them fit into this mini-event perfectly, not a one feels out of place or obnoxious. It's a marvel how well Remender pulls it off. I'll be honest, I haven't been in love with Lan Medina's art. A bit too clean for the story that's been unfolding.But he's didn't draw this. Instead, we got Tony Moore and it is just stunning. He gets to take a crack at new heroes, and they're some of the best I've seen. It's so nice to see him drawing Johnny Blaze again, for starters. X-23 is appropriately vicious, and his Red Hulk has a hilariously exaggerated anatomy. I know it takes Moore quite a while to finish his work, but when the work's this good, I don't see how anyone can complain. So the Circle of Four event is off to a fantastic start. I feel really sorry for the people who decide not to pick up this book due to it's silly numbering system. It's a self-contained event starring Venom, a Hulk, a Ghost Rider and a Wolverine fighting off a small Hell in Las Vegas. Written by Rick Remender and drawn my Tony Moore.
