Take a highly ferocious Alien Symbiote and fuse him with an American Soldier to create the ultimate Special Operations one man strike force and you have this brand new interpretation of Venom. We start in fictitious Eastern European warzone where a band of genocidal a-holes led by an evil mad doctor and fascinatingly psychotic super villain called the Jack O' Lantern are doing a little ethnic cleansing. Working for an unkown mastermind watching the action unfold from his secret lair, we can see there is a lot of subtext to be revealed to us down the road. After the UN Peacekeeper mech soldiers (who all look like Iron Man in Stark Tech suits) get destroyed, Venom drops in and disobeys orders just enough to kick some real butt and save the day with some cool tricks. We also get a taste of Flash Thompson's personal inner demons that could lead to interesting sub plots and bring some real interesting character stuff.

Tony Moore's art is really awesome and he really brings some good stuff to this issue. His art has got a nice grungy, cartoony feel to it, with very expressive poses and facial expressions. He does a good job of showing Venom's suit undergo constant changes. The colors really add a lot to the visuals as well and provide a nice, creepy mood for the book.

This series has great potential. I'm looking forward to having an evil superhero/military spec ops type book in my stack. After the backups and .1 i've already had 3 good tastes of Venom and i'm really looking forward to what's coming next. Definitely worth checking out if the concept sounds appealing to you.
