True to common form, this was a very solid single issue story of Yusagi Yojimbo. Usagi finds himself helping a small team of ‘ice runners’ fight off a rival clan and aiding them in delivering the gift of ice to their lord. The issue had alternating moments of action and touching character moments throughout. Stan Sakai’s cartooning style is very solid and classic feeling. The action sequences read quickly and clearly and the characters expressions are very animated and full of emotion. This issue embodies the best aspects of single issue story-telling in that it has a clear beginning, middle, and end all in just twenty-four pages. The only thing keeping me from giving the story a five-star rating is that, compared to other Usagi Yojimbo issues, this ending fell just a little flat. Usually there would be some sort of deeper, profound meaning presented to the reader, but this issue just ended with the lord of the clan that Usagi assisted and fought for pretty much just saying thank you for your help.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
