This issue was your basic UY set up issue. It gives a historical tale to serve as a backdrop for the current story. The particular story in question will star Kitsune, the fan weilding, top spinning, ‘girls-gotta-do-what-a-girls-gotta-do’ sayin’ small time bandit.

Each Usagi trade seems to start this way and believe me when I say they all seem to hook you in by issue two of the arch. I can’t really speak for reading the series in issues as this is the first issue  that I have bought to actually read (and to just post a lushious cover or back-page pin-up on my wall)

UY is a completely unique series that stands head and shoulders above most. Written, drawn and lettered by Stan Sakai, one of the hardest workin men in comics…a man, so we’ve been told, has only missed a deadline a handful of times.

#117 won’t knock your socks off or blow your hair back but it is far from bad. No matter what the plot, Sakai knows how to tell a story in graphic form. His pages and panels are simple and extremely effective.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
