In a week with out Greg Rucka and JH Williams on Detective Comics, this would have been my pick of the week. If you’ve been reading this series from the beginning, you know that Unknown Soldier gets better every month. Artist Alberto Ponticelli has created a unique and beautiful (though often violent and gory) look for this title and writer Joshua Dysart is weaving a fascinatingly dark tale. Issue #9 continued the current story line, filling in blanks by following rogue CIA agent Jack Lee Howl. This is what Vertigo does best, and there is so many great tales and interesting moral issues to explore here. I hope Dysart and Ponticelli get to continue to tell the story they want to because I want see this book stick around for a long time.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
