UNKNOWN SOLDIER #8

This is one of those books that everyone else seems to really enjoy but I
seem to miss the point of. I give about as much a damn about Africa as I’m
willing to bet you do, if you are honest with yourself. I do find it
interesting to see real world drama portrayed in a fictionalized universe, but
it really is just coming off as moral grandstanding or war porn depending on
what’s shown. The art is solid, and fits the tone perfectly. It’s gritty and
dark, and not in the fake 90’s meaning, but in an actual sense. This issue put
forth an interesting concept, and since it is a vertigo book, it might actually
follow through on it. I can tell there is talent here, it just isn’t grabbing
me.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 3 - Good
