I feel like this story was probably originally conceived without the involvement of the Phoenix Five, and would have been better if it involved a normally-powered X-Men team confronting Sinister in his place of power, but it’s still been a great story that has both effectively portrayed Sinister’s power and convincingly showed how his profligate narcissism and hubris always cause him to lose. I don’t particularly like Acuna’s art because it just seems too shiny, but the story was told effectively.
