I disliked this issue of Uncanny X-Force as much as I liked the first two arcs. The story was in no way complex, but between the art and the dialog, it was at times difficult to keep up with.

Tocchini’s art, particularly the inks were a huge part of this. Gorgeous panels followed immediately by a chaos of lines that, while they certainly set the tone that a lot of action is happening quickly, don’t really appeal to the eye.

I was really excited to reach this comic in my stack, and I’m disappointed that it ended up being such a huge let down.

  1. Im a fan Tocchini’s art style but on this type of story it all just looked so unfinished as if layouts were handed in to be coloured 🙁 i would loved to have read this arc with someone like Sean Murphy on art duties…

    • I agree about the art looking unfinished. It repeatedly took me out of the story. It wasn’t all bad, but when it was, it was nigh unreadable.

  2. The art was difficult to interpret in places during this arc. But the odd characterisation and small examples of retrofitting that went on in this arc was far worse.
